Ok, the REITs are listed in the Financial Times. So you could look at back copies for the years you want in a reference library.
Alternatively there is some historical data of all equities (including REITs) here http://www.londonstockexchange.com/statistics/historic/company-files/company-files.htm
I haven’t tried it but download the years you are interested in then filter the spreadsheet for REITs.
The sub-sector is made up of Retail REITs and Industrial & Offices REITs (and maybe more).

Hi,
Thank you for your response, I have found the relevant information on the LSE. I had initially tried this site but became confused, since there were a lot more REIT’s than I had expected. I had read in a previous article that there were only 9 during 2007, but this have may been referring to the REIT’s introduction in the UK rather than by the end of the year.
Still trying to gain knowledge in this area!!!! Now I just need to find there differences and mechanisms.

Not specifically a REIT investor but deal in stocks that are (such as British Land).
